David Ericsson is one of Sweden’s most talented young designers.
With his carefully thought-out design work, David creates products that will withstand a long survival in a rapidly changing world. A work process that takes time to get right.
David has a rich education within cabinetwork, furniture design and architecture and his work has been praised with several awards. Special appreciation has been given for his chair designs.
With HILMA Davis is creating a new design language for Gemla. The softly curved steel is shaped with hommage to the classic bentwood Vienna-chair. A solid steam bent back is crowning HILMA, which with its unique production method not only creates highest comfort but also tremendous durability.
The name HILMA comes from the artist Hilma af Klint, a true pioneer in the abstract world. ”She has been a great inspiration for me when creating one of the first steel chairs for Gemla since 1861” says David.
HILMA is stackable, and thanks to the clever design of the armrests it can both be hung onto the table top as well as placed underneath. HILMA is available in different versions with upholstered and wooden seat.
