Mathieu Gustafsson

Mathieu Gustafsson has his roots from both Paris and Sweden, raised in Småland - the heart of Swedish furniture production.
It's from the differences between the two cultures Mathieu gets his inspiration. His creative process often starts with a defined need, a behavior or a technique, with an ambition of finding a new angle for the producer he works for. Mathieu has a background within graphic design, furniture making and furniture design. Specialized in furniture for public spaces he started and managed the designstudio at Tengbom - one of the leading architect firms in Sweden.
Today he works his own studio designing for both residential and public.

Mathieu has a light and elegant design language with a talent of creating simplicity in the unexpected. With a deep interest in details and knowledge in materials Mathieu always creates design with a high level of craftsmanship.
